Fuzzy Labs are a Manchester-based startup that helps our clients productionise machine learning through Open Source MLOps. We exist to help harness and channel the power of AI more quickly, to make positive change and use AI for good.

We are growing our team to lead and expand our engagement with secure government organisations. Over the past 12 months, we have doubled both our business size and revenue, and our growth ambitions for this year are just as bold. This role will be instrumental in building our presence in the sector, helping organisations adopt AI to enhance operational effectiveness and achieve their mission, while also guiding how we shape our pipeline and strategy for long-term sustainable growth.

What we’re looking for

We’ve seen considerable growth over the past few years and this will continue as we build on our reputation as Open Source MLOps experts. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of working in the sector, including its challenges, priorities and culture, and use that expertise to help shape how AI can make a meaningful impact.

You’ll also be responsible for developing and executing a clear strategy to expand our presence within the sector; using your insights and experience to identify opportunities, craft targeted initiatives, and guide how we approach and support potential customers in a thoughtful, impactful way.

This is not a pure commercial role. It is about combining subject matter expertise with commercial awareness: helping us engage with the right stakeholders, navigate the landscape effectively, and build trusted partnerships that last.

A typical day

You’ll work closely with our CCO, CTO and delivery teams to grow our presence in the sector. Your focus will be on connecting our technical expertise with real mission needs, building trusted relationships and shaping opportunities that deliver meaningful, long-term impact. You might find yourself:

Acting as a secure government sector expert, showing how AI can meet real-world challenges
Building strong relationships with stakeholders and decision-makers
Developing and managing a clear pipeline of opportunities
Leading on bids and proposals
Collaborating with technical teams to make sure projects deliver value
Sharing insight and market intelligence to guide our strategy
Representing Fuzzy Labs at events

This is a relationship-driven role. It’s about earning trust, helping organisations see what’s possible with AI, and creating partnerships that last.

What you’ll bring

Willingness to travel to our Manchester office when needed
Proven experience building relationships in the sector
Understanding of procurement, frameworks and governance
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Experience leading and/or contributing to bids and proposals
Interest or basic knowledge in AI, data science or MLOps, and a willingness to learn
Comfortable working independently
Experience in a startup or scale-up environment is a plus
Must be a UK citizen (see below)

Location

We run an organised hybrid scheme. On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday we work in the office, and use these days for the type of activities where being present in person brings benefits; for example sprint planning, project scheduling, retrospectives, social lunches and one to ones.

Ideally, the successful candidate will be based at our Manchester offices. However, we are open to considering applicants who are located closer to key customer sites and would therefore work remotely.
